Vision 2009
Empowering young people to build a progressive governing majority
is a long term vision. The League is planning ahead for 2009 and
we’re inviting you to join us. We are asking our supporters to make a
three year financial commitment to ensure that our emerging leaders
can continue their work in 2009 and beyond.
We envision the League as a sustainable organization with the
professional experience to move from a grassroots movement to
a youth empowerment institution. With your support to secure the
League financially through 2009, we can build on the successes,
talent and momentum from 2008 and lay the groundwork for long
term political change.
Cool. I want to join Vision 2009.
Together we can make sure that 2009 is not like 2005. Most assets
from 2004 were lost (organizations, data, relationships in swing
states) because progressive leaders and funders hadn’t planned
beyond Election Day. We can’t let that happen again in 2009.
Whether a Republican or Democrat is elected President on
November 4, 2008, our work is far from over on issues like health
care, criminal justice, energy and jobs.
That makes sense. I'll join Vision 2009!
Because we can’t just come around at election time. We work
year round to build trust with voters, community and cultural
leaders in battleground states.
Because we’re succeeding! Young voter turnout increased and
leaned progressive for the second major election in a row (9.3 point
increase in 2004 and 4 point increase in 2006, compared to the last
similar election*). Let’s not stop now!
The League needs to have stable funding so we can plan and
budget long term to do our best work.
I can agree with that. I'm salivating to be part of Vision 2009.
