November 3, 2009: SF's Anticlimactic Election
To be honest, this isn't the most exciting election, but Props C, D, and E give us a chance to say no to commercialization of public space. We wanted bold budget reform and progressive taxation on the ballot, but...fail. You can thank the 2/3rds vote requirement for local revenue measures for that.

Declaration Of Democracy Campaign
Let's restore Democracy to the Budget! California is one of only four states with a 2/3 budget rule. thats the biggest reason we have a budget stalemate every year. Lowering the threshold to 50% would move radical Republicans to the fringe and out more moderate legislators in the drivers seat. Government fails when it isn't democratic, as the 2/3rds rule repeatedly proves. That's why the League of Young Voters, CREDO Mobile, and the Courage Campaign
are declaring today that it's time to bring democracy to California's
broken government. We're calling it the "Declaration of Democracy" and
we need your support to make it a success. Sign the Declaration NOW to restore democracy to California!
