2011 San Francisco Election: Wins & Losses
The San Francisco League is 100% volunteer-based, and this is the 13th straight election where we've made a Pissed Off Voter Guide. Our endorsement is coveted by progressive candidates, and wherever we go, people say things like, "I use this every time!" or "I've been waiting for this--thank you!" It feels great to know we're helping folks figure out our crazy ranked choice voting system and SO many confusing propositions. We distributed 60,000 guides this year. Check out the Highlights.

Voter Guide Release Party!!
The fuse. Is. Lit.
And on next thursday, this badass voter guide bomb is gonna go off and blanket our fair city with a blast of voter guides. A swirling scintillate of voter guides. Voter guides like confetti. Voter guides like locusts. Voter guides like rain.
We’ll be celebrating the new guide, we’ll be reading and hootin’ and hollerin’, we’ll be toasting our special endorsed electeds (some of whom will be there in person to drink with us). We’ll be planning pub crawls and event assaults and park frolics and day of the dead processionals and hot air balloon drops: all the ways we’ll be dolloping out glowing orange drops of voter education over the next six weeks. And of course, the most important item on the night’s agenda: we will be serving up fresh hot stacks of voter guides. Take a handful, take a bundle, take a box. We’re excited, can you tell?
So bring your friends. Bring your colleagues, bring your neighbors, bring your elderly relatives. Bring your polyamorous triad lifepartners. Bring your seeing eye dog, cause that’s the only kind of dog that’ll be getting into the buck. Bring everyone you’ve ever wanted to press-gang into the league. Bring everyone, cause we’ve got SIXTY THOUSAND of these pretty-printed progressive firecrackers and we are rarin’ to go.
See you there.
Stop the AT&T Boxes!
Here's a little piece--click the link to read more of our latest op ed in the SF Bay Guardian! Why do small cafes have to pay hundreds of dollars in permit fees to put two piddly tables outside their shops, while AT&T gets a blanket "categorical exemption" for almost no money to nail down ugly boxes that will block the sidewalk and attract graffiti? (Hmm, we can probably think of some choice graffiti actually…)
Happy Hour with the League 5/10!
We're getting together for another
mellow happy hour at Thieves Tavern (14th & Guerrero, in the north
Mission) to hang out and talk about what's happening around San
Francisco. If you've ever wanted to get involved with the League, or just wondered
who who puts together the Pissed Off Voter Guide, come on down and
have a drink with us. Tuesday 5/10 6:30-9:30 496 14th Street @ Guerrero San Francisco, CA NOTE: This is at Thieves Tavern on 14th and Guerrero. It's NOT at Dirty
Thieves on 24th Street!
Thieves will have a drink special for us, and we'll dip into our petty
cash to spring for some food.
Happy Hour with the League 3/29!
Tuesday 3/29 5pm-9pm Hang out with your fellow Pissed Off
Voters and get caught up on who's running for mayor, what's the deal with
Twitter on Market Street, what are Gang Injunctions, how can we improve
Muni and biking, and basically anything else you want to talk about.

We wrote this open letter to our friends on the Board of Supervisors in hopes that we'll at least get a little bit of the change we'd like to see around here.

Endorsement Party 4/30/10
Guess what--it's election time again! On the June 8th ballot we'll see protections for renters in SF, Gavin for Lieutenant Governor, a DCCC race that is way more important than it sounds, and what might be PG&E's dirtiest prop yet. Our voter guide is more important than ever, and young and/or pissed off voters across the city are waiting to see what we'll recommend. Join us for the endorsement party tomorrow, where the League's Political Education and Action Committee will present their recommendations, and eligible members will vote to determine what will go in our 12th Pissed Off Voter Guide. And we'll be on the radio! SF League Endorsement Party Friday 4/30/10 6-8pm Not everyone can vote on the endorsements, but all are welcome to participate in the conversation. So come on down to the cafe for a bacon maple latte and get schooled on what's on the ballot. If you can't make it in person, you can listen online or tune into 87.9FM. Hope to see you there!

How does the League make endorsements?
The San Francisco League is busy gearing up for the June 8th, 2010 election. In the meantime, we thought you might be interested to know how the Pissed Off Voter Guide endorsements get made: "The SF League's endorsement process starts with the Political Education and Action Committee, AKA PEAC. PEAC is made up of volunteers..." Click through for details!
