Young People Step Up to Share Their '99 Problems'
Who said that the younger generation of voters is apathetic and unaware of America's biggest problems? With one look at the new website 99Problems.org, it's easy to tell that is certainly not the case.

The League of Young Voters Education Fund has created this new portal targeted at getting twenty-somethings to post video clips about issues that they want President Obama to resolve his first 100 days in office. Accompanying each clip on 'Today's Problem' is another clip titled 'Today's Action,' which documents how best to solve the issue and making the site less about talk and more about helping the President to best fix some of America's biggest problems.
Already, it's garnered a huge following not only from young people but celebrities alike.
Comedian Sarah Silverman sounded off on how ridiculous she feels the delay in making gay marriages legal is and 'Pimp My Ride' host and rapper Xzibit thinks the former Illinois Senator should "spend more time with the economy because that's the main thing that's effected so many people." R&B singer LeToya Luckett, sports talk show personality John Salley and actor Cash Warren are a few of the other big names that have offered up what they think President Obama should change.
As if the celebrity element of 99Problems.org wasn't enough, they've enlisted acclaimed entertainment journalist Chloe Hilliard for a weekly column titled 'X(Fact) Her.' Hillard, previously worked for The Village Voice, and her most recent work also includes a new book examining African American concerns called 'The Best African-American Essays: 2009.'
president obamaEvery Tuesday, this former Vibe and Essence magazine scribe adds to 99Problems.org a female perspective not only on politics, but cultural topics, as well. Some of her recent posts have tackled the AIG bonus payout, human cloning and what new job opportunities President Obama will make available for women. Hilliard's perspective enriches the overall goal of 99Problems.org to provide a forum for voices that often go unheard or overlooked.
Fret not, you don't have to be a big-time journalist to offer up your suggestions to the Obama administration through 99Problems.org. Users can submit their video testimonies to online@99problems.org. Site administrations will sift through the submissions daily and post the most engaging. But, try to keep the clip less than 90 seconds, and though 99Problems.org is a safe space for dialogue of people from all backgrounds, sexist, racist, homophobic, or any other kind of hateful material is unacceptable and will not be posted.
Here's hoping 99Problems.org becomes a main-stay for today's youth to sound off even after President Obama's first 100 days in office.
