Rendell honors League PA Director Mosley

Khari Mosley, state director for the Pennsylvania League of Young Voters, was recently honored by Gov. Ed Rendell. He was recognized at a luncheon in the Governor's Residence; the luncheon's theme was "Empowering Others by Creating a Voice for Change."

In response to being chosen, Mosley said, "I am honored to receive this recognition for my work with the Pennsylvania League of Young Voters. Our mission to engage, educate, and empower young people and disenfranchised voters came out of sincere belief that change begins by empowering the disempowered."

Mosley, a 29-year-old native of Pittsburgh, Pa., has been involved in local politics and culture since college. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and has been active in politics and government since then. He is currently serving as elected chairman of Pittsburgh's 22nd Ward. "Politics cannot continue to be the purview of the few. We have made great strides in including more and more citizens in the democratic process, but our work is not done. With some of the lowest rates of political participation in the world, its time to look at innovative ways of engaging people in politics, from simply getting them to register and vote to encouraging more young people, women and people of color to actually run for office. That's my ambition," offered Mosley.
