Hill coalition pushing for arena settlement

The One Hill Community Benefits Agreement Coalition met yesterday to announce an online petition drive aimed at securing a fair new arena settlement for the community.

The One Hill Community Benefits Agreement Coalition met yesterday to announce an online petition drive aimed at securing a fair new arena settlement for the community.

The coalition said the petition also represents an effort to garner additional support from groups beyond the immediate Hill District area.

One Hill said the petition is being sponsored by the Pennsylvania League of Young Voters and can be viewed at www.theleague.com/pa.

Some 30 groups announced their support for an agreement that the entire community can live with. Included were Clean Water Action, Just Harvest, the Sierra Club, the YWCA and the Pennsylvania Labor Center at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The coalition earlier this month called upon Pittsburgh Penguins leadership to renew their participation in reaching an accord.
