Jobs NOT Guns Rally: Saturday, August 29th
Cleveland, OH, Saturday, August 29, 2009 – Join Power Network’s Executive Director Gigi Traore and College Team Members, Ward 5 residents, collegiate and communal groups as well as various artists and activists for a march and rally as we address the economic downturn and increase of violence in our community. Beginning at 11am all roads lead to East Tech parking lot as we educate our residents on Green Jobs as well as rally against the momentous increase of violent crimes.
Hosted by Basheer Jones the "Jobs NOT Guns" March & Rally was created to address the economic and safety issues plaguing Ward 5. Ms. Traore, an advocate for Green Jobs will demonstrate how the Green Economy is a solution to both issues. “I believe, by employing young people and community members with Green Jobs we will stimulate not only Ward 5, but also the city of Cleveland”, Gigi Traore.
Come for the march and vigil lead by community group Peace in the Hood and stay for the rally. There will be food, information tables, vendors, entertainment and speakers addressing: Green Jobs for All, Youth Involvement: Leaders Now! and Termination of Community Violence.
