The South Portland City Council Workshop

Safety Dedicated cycling and walking routes make life safer for everyone sharing the road. Studies show that drivers are more attentive and drive slower and cyclists and walkers benefit from a well defined route. Anti-sprawl Fewer drivers mean less need for parking spaces and parking in closer proximity to stores for cyclists and drivers alike. That's good for business and helps limit sprawl. Business attracting More and more companies are realizing that opening up their locations to cyclists and walkers (not just drivers) is a smart business decision.
