Take Action on Immigrant Voting!

Make your voice heard at the upcoming Charter Commission Public Hearing!

Last spring we worked hard to try to extend voting rights to non-citizens in local elections, where immigrants are a vital, active part of our Maine communities.  While the bill didn't get out of committee, our strong presence has fueled momentum to get non-citizen voting passed locally in Portland.

Right now, the newly elected Portland Charter Commission will be considering a number of electoral and governmental reform issues in the next few weeks.  We have a real opportunity to make sure this initiative passes, but the only way we can see this happen in our city is to testify at the next Charter Commission meeting this Thursday, July 30th at 5:30pm.

Can you testify?
