Take a Stand - Iraq Summer

The "Take a Stand Campaign" is a nation-wide organizing drive to demand that members of Congress and the Senate take a stand with the vast majority of Americans who want a safe and responsible redeployment of American Forces from Iraq. Across America, over 100 "Iraq Summer" organizers are working to involve thousands of ordinary Americans in an effort to pressure targeted members of Congress to vote to bring a safe end to the war. This "Take A Stand Campaign" will culminate with "Take A Stand" town meetings to be held on August 28th, immediately before congress reconvenes.

Iraq Summer

What is Iraq Summer?

Iraq Summer is a campaign organized by Americans Against Escalation in Iraq and the Campaign to Defend America, designed to turn public opinion against the war in Iraq into political pressure on members of Congress who stand in the way of a responsible end to the war in Iraq.

Iraq Summer is focused on causing foundation of congressional support for the President's Iraq strategy to collapse. To achieve this goal, organizers, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and military families across the country will use field operations, build coalitions, organize paid and earned media strategies, conduct volunteer events and combine nuts and bolts organizing tactics with cutting edge online organizing techniques to turn up the heat on members of Congress who are blocking a safe end to the Iraq war.

100 staff will be working in 15 states (Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia) to target more than 60 members of Congress who are blocking the passage of legislation that will bring a safe end to the war in Iraq.

Working Assets Dials Up the Heat

A successful campaign like Iraq Summer depends on quick, reliable communications. That's why we turned to Working Assets Wireless to connect our activists in 16 states. Working Assets is the one wireless company that supports the same cause we do: ending the war in Iraq. To make it happen, Working Assets is generously donating its services to Iraq Summer. If you want a wireless company that shares your progressive values, go to WorkingAssetsWireless.com to learn more.
