Regional Transportation Events
on Thursday, October 28th

The Portland Area Comprehensive Transportation System “PACTS” is holding two events on regional transportation at the Clarion Hotel in Portland at 1230 Congress Street.  PACTS is the metropolitan planning organization for the urbanized area of Portland, Maine.

At 6:00 P.M.:

A Public Hearing on the 2010 Draft update of the regional transportation plan, Destination Tomorrow

For over a year, representatives from all of PACTS committees have been reviewing the current long range transportation plan and considering changes affecting our region’s transportation priorities, since the current plan was adopted in 2006.  The members of the “Update Committee” have documented the change, and seek public input as the process nears completion.  The update will reflect priority strategies for maintaining and transforming the region’s transportation system to best address the multi-modal needs in the metropolitan region for the coming 25-year period.

Drafted chapters will be available on the www.pactsplan.org website by Monday October 25th.

At 7:00 P.M.:

A MaineDOT Presentation on the Portland North Alternative Modes Project

Representatives from the MaineDOT will present the results of the Portland North Alternative Modes Project (otherwise known as the Small Starts project).  The briefing will provide an overview of the alternatives considered, the alternatives evaluation process, the Small Starts process, and will discuss a recommendation for the preferred alternative.  Based on the recommended alternative, next steps will also be identified, including the submission of an FTA Small Starts application.
