PUBLIC MEETING:

Address Water Quality Issues in the Capisic Brook Watershed

Thursday, January 28, 2010

6:00 to 8:00 PM

Riverton School and Community Center

1600 Forest Ave.

The City of Portland will hold the first of several public meetings to discuss ways the community can work together to restore and manage the Capisic Brook watershed. The city received a grant for nearly $100,000 from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, to address the causes of stormwater pollution within the watershed, with the goal of adopting strategies that will improve the water quality in the brook. An important part of this effort includes outreach and information to help residents, landowners, businesses, and the city better understand the watershed, and how their daily practices impact water quality.  During the next year, the city will engage stakeholders in the watershed planning process and work with them to chart a course for a cleaner Capisic Brook watershed.
