This November, Questions 1 (Marriage), 2 (Excise Tax), and 4 (TABOR 2) all need to be voted down with a resounding NO. Help us educate Mainers about why a No vote is so important this upcoming election!

Vote Early!

Vote Early!

We love voting here at the League--it's sorta what we do! We also recognize that Election Day can be absolutely chaotic for some folks. And that's why we feel strongly about voting early! By requesting an absentee, or going into your town or city hall on after October 15 (call ahead--this changes by municipality!).

Vote, and make yourself heard. Vote Early, and keep your life simple!

Vote NO on 1!

Question 1:
Same-sex Marriage People’s Veto

"Do you want to reject the new law that lets same-sex couples marry and allows individuals and religious groups to refuse to perform these marriages?"

The Peninsula Transit Study passes!

The Peninsula Transit Study passes!

Check out this awesome new blog by Hilary Frenkel about Portland's transit victory:

"The Peninsula Transit Study passed unanimously by the City Council tonight! I thought we would never get to the vote. I did learn, however, that ‘Naked Shakespeare’ is simply Shakespeare without costumes and is not nearly as provocative as it sounds..."

Pass the Peninsula Transit Study!

Pass the Peninsula Transit Study!

Nearly a generation ago, our City began to realize that our transportation infrastructure was incredibly dependent on Single Occupancy Vehicles (SOV's) for local transit. In 1993, a transportation report entitled "A Time for Change" emphasized community, livability, and connectivity for all residents.

We're asking you to call your City Councilor to make it clear: Pass the Peninsula Transit Study!

Voter Registration Modernization!

Voter Registration Modernization!

The current Voter Registration system is a nightmare. Election Officials are overwhelmed by paperwork; the information is hard to keep up to date; each State has their own unique process, which can make cause problems on the National level... And these problems primarily affect voters who are already disenfranchised, such as low-income folks, youth, seniors, folks with disabilities...!

Voter Registration Modernization is a movement to take of these problems, and allow voter registration to be equal ground for everyone. Learn more here!
