Metro Fare Hike Public Hearing!

Thursday, February 11, 2010

7:00 PM

Portland City Hall, State of Maine Room

Do you ride the bus on a regular basis? Rely on the monthly pass to get where you need to go? Have you been considering buying that monthly pass? Due to budget cuts, Metro is facing some really difficult decisions, and they're  considering raising their fares. What does that mean?

Single fare would increase from $1.25 to $1.50 (20% increase)

10-ride fare would increase from $11 to $14 (27% increase)

Monthly fare would increase from $37.50 to $45 (20% increase)

If this impacts you or you think it might in the future, now is the time to speak up. Think outside the box and come up with creative ways for Metro to decrease spending without having to increase their monthly pass. This public hearing is your opportunity to share those ideas with the Metro Board.

They will be voting on this on Thursday, February 24, 2010, so there is no time to waste!

Hope to see you there!
