Health Care
According to a recent study, approximately 13.7 million Americans between the age of 19-29 are without health insurance.
The culprit, of course, is cost. Insurance is prohibitively expensive for lower-income youth and youth of color, leaving them vulnerable during illnesses and accidents, as well as deterring them from seeking preventive care. Even when an uninsured person makes the difficult decision to seek care in a hospital, they are more likely to receive lower quality care than those with insurance.
The League believes that this situation cannot continue and demands action. Insurance should be made readily available to hard-working people, whether from private or public sources.
