Deputy Director Position
The League of Young Voters family of organizations is looking for a Deputy Director.
We are a national organization run by young people who want to help our peers build power to solve the problems in our communities. We engage young people who have been shut out of the political process to make politics fun, relevant, and meaningful.
Our work in the field includes voter registration and mobilization, especially among "unlikely" voters; local, state, and federal level issue advocacy; electoral organizing, training and leadership development; and community and youth organizing to bring new voices to electoral politics.
The Deputy Director will work from our Brooklyn, NY Operations office.
About this position: The Deputy Director is an integral member of the senior leadership team and reports directly to the Executive Director. They will work closely to ensure the successful implementation and growth of all programmatic initiatives and in developing and implementing strategies for organizational growth and sustainability. The Deputy Director also plays a key rolein the Operations Department, managing our cashflow and bottom-lining legal, human resource, and financial oversight.
Responsibilities:
* Accountable for the coordination of all inner workings of the organization. Manages long-term planning and monitors the implementation of national strategy.
* In coordination with the Field Director, supports the local planning of each affiliate.
* Implementation of functional and successful internal communications policies.
* Support, develop and supervise National staff members representing the Operations, Development, Training, Organizing, and Systems Departments.
* Coordinate the "big picture" work of the senior leadership team.
* Work closely with the Operations Director, Development Director, and the Executive Director to develop realistic budgets and revenue plans. Provide ongoing budget and fundraising oversight.
* Develop and manage partnerships with organizations and key allies.
* Ensure that all activities and materials are legally compliant; liaise with outside counsel.
* Supervise the creation of quality reports and materials for internal and external audiences.
* With the Executive Director, liaise with the Boards of Directors. Support Boards with their workplans.
* Work with the Operations Department to maintain and improve accounting and HR systems.
Skills desired:

* 5+ years of related work experience. Significant management experience is strongly desired and will ensure serious consideration.
* Current, deep knowledge of the youth civic engagement/organizing sector
* Deep commitment to social justice
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
* Experience with nonprofit financial management
* Knowledge of nonprofit advocacy and lobbying, both from a programmatic and a systems perspective
* Understanding of allowable activities for 501c3, 501c4 and political organizations
* Experience/formal training in conflict resolution/facilitation
* Ability to work and manage staff in a virtual organization; comfortable using online technology such as gChat, gDocs, text messages, CRM Software (SalesForce), etc.
* Some travel required
