Tunnel Builders:  Join Our Network

What is TBI?

The Tunnel Builder Institute (TBI) is The League of Young Voters Education Fund's official training and leadership development program. The TBI curriculum is based on a series of simulated and interactive "organizing games" that are specifically tailored to empower young people, people of color and low income folks to become effective electoral and community based activists.

Tunnel building is an organizing ideology that focuses on building deep and long-term organizing strategies. While traditional electoral campaigns often "build bridges" between diverse communities, these episodic infrastructures often disappear once the campaign is over. Tunnel Builders are invested in building long term organizing structures that will serve communities long after the polls have closed.

A "Tunnel Builder" is an organizer who is deeply interested in making both long term and strategic commitments to improving his or her community.

The Tunnel Builder Network is a coalition of artists, activists, and aspiring leaders; from Executive Directors to high school students, coming together to share job openings, training opportunities, success stories and the lessons of our shared struggle.

Your story can educate and inspire us all. The Tunnel Builder Network is incredibly unique; there is no other place for people from so many different backgrounds to come together to help each other.

Individually, we make progress. Together, we make movements.

Campaign Against Violence empowers young adults nationwide to participate in the process to create progressive political change on the local, state and national level – with a focus on non-college youth and youth from low-income communities and communities of color. CAV makes political engagement relevant by meeting young people where they are, working on issues that affect their lives, and providing them with tools, training, and support to become serious catalysts for change in their communities.
