The Real Deal gets realistic
This past Tuesday, the League's regular action-packed Real Deal evening got even more intense. After I played around with the projector for what felt like an eternity, eventually Zero Station was filled with Leaguers, old and new, and our newly elected candidates started to trickle in.
It's really incredible to see how much can change in a week, in a day even. Election Day was such a whirlwind--between making over 400 phone calls, to individuals, families, and their various answering machines, and the gray, icky rain, it was really hard to focus on any one thing, let alone the fact that by 8 pm that day it was all going to be over, for better or worse.
Luckily, it was for better.

Delicious vegan chili, sweet company, rockin' music, and some fresh-out-of-the-package City Councilors made the Tuesday after Election Day seem pretty magical. Community meeting style, we all sat around on comfy, artsy chairs and proceeded to have some pretty great conversation regarding transportation issues, affordable housing, federal versus local funding, state taxes, and whether John Anton really does like brightly colored leaves.
